There was an interesting decision from the Supreme Court to not increase the periodic payments in favour of Mrs Mills. The Court allowed the appeal from Mr Mills to keep the maintenance at the same level following their divorce in 2002. The Court of Appeal having previously increased the payments to Mrs Mills. The increase was to meet her current income needs following her financial mismanagement which left her with limited resources. The decision will be seen by many as a further move away from the perceived "meal ticket for life".
