Latest Family Court statistics show 18% rise in matrimonial cases starting The Ministry of Justice has released its quarterly Family Court Statistics, for the period April to June 2018. The main points to note are: An increase in the number of cases starting in Family courts (7% up on April to June 2017) driven by an 18% rise in matrimonial cases starting. On average, care proceedings took longer with 48% of cases being disposed of within 26 weeks (8% down over the same period for 2017). An 18% increase in the number of divorce petitions over the same period in the previous year. A 1% increase in the number of domestic violence remedy applications, with a 4% increase in the number of orders made.
